Our 2011 Craters, Tetons & Yellowstone Scrapbook!

Every summer Jor and I take a trip somewhere new and every winter we start dreaming of the next one. We have a zillion pictures from our adventures, on a bunch of different computers, and nothing in albums. We hardly ever look back at our photos, and that’s kind of a shame!

A few weeks ago, I decided to start doing a little scrapbooking so that we could actually look at our pictures, and so that stories from our adventures wouldn’t be forgotten.

A friend gave me a really nice leather photo book for Christmas and I thought it would be the perfect home for our 2011 Crater of the Moon, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone photos!Yellowstone ScrapbookSo I spent a few hours one night printing out my favorite pictures from our road-trip.

And the next night I started putting the book together. Here are a few of my favorite pages:

Yellowstone ScrapbookI searched for adventure quotes on Pinterest and found several that I loved. I added these to our book using a fine-tipped sharpie.

This made putting the book together extra fun.

I drew a map between each destination and added little notes about our mileage.Yellowstone Scrapbook

These still make me laugh. Jordan is literally jumping for joy at the sight of the Tetons. It really was so exciting to travel all that way and finally see them.

I’m extremely grateful and excited that there is now a record of this adventure we had together, something that our kids and grandkids can look at. I hope by looking at this that they will be inspired to go on their own adventures and I hope they will take this book with them!Yellowstone Scrapbook

Thanks Amy! I hear your family got a trailer of your own. When are we going caravaning with the babies?

Awesome. Question, did you guys get a national pass for the 9 different parks?? We are kicking around the idea of hitting Southern Utah and AZ this year and hopefully the Overland Expo in Flagstaff.

We did get the America the Beautiful annual pass. If you add up the cost of all the park’s entry fees it’s well worth it. I would love to go to the Overland Expo! We’re planning a southern California National Park trip for May and bought another pass for this year. When do you guys plan on going?

Well the Overland Expo is May 15-17th. So I would love to go early May and work my way down. We are looking at being gone up to 3 weeks, depends on keeping our cost of lodging in check with camping, cabins and a hotel or two. We do have some friends in AZ we will stay with for a few days. I mainly am going for my photography business and I have the time then. We homeschool our girls so it will be a huge geography lesson for them and us!

May 17th and 18th we have a campground reserved for us in Yosemite, which will start our trip. We’re only going for a little over week this time, being we have a baby. I plan on having the Kit Companion ready by then. I would love to do a 3 week trip. How does you photography take you south?

I am a Landscape Photographer primarily, just started my business, should have website up soon. Working with a firm in Seattle as a contributing photographer. My good friend and I are developing a media business with aerial cinematography using a UAV or as everyone likes to say a “drone”. So I have always wanted to go shoot the canyon lands, zion, etc. Plus we love road trips. I don’t have the time before to spend rebuilding a vintage trailer but my wife and I both love the idea. She was showing me lots of pics and sites on Pinterest about the topic.
